Sunny
Total Time = 2h 25m 30s
Overall Rank = 41/841
Age Group = 35-39M
Age Group Rank = 4/88
Pre-race routine:

Normal
Carb load friday, light meal saturday.
They offered bike drop off this year, I did not take part-rode in on race morning.
Race was also a week earlier this year-I LIKE THAT.
Event warmup:

Ride in from hotel. No swim warm-up allowed. Took bus to swim start, didnt walk. Stayed in the shade on the football field as the SUN ROSE over the trees-UGH here it comes we all said.
Swim
  • 25m 59s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

Love this swim, announcer stated slower current than usual.
What would you do differently?:

More swim training, Im behind this year.
Transition 1
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

Second fastest in 4 years for me, no complaints.
What would you do differently?:

Not cramp from lack of swimming running TO transition.
Bike
  • 1h 13m
  • 42 kms
  • 34.52 km/hr
Comments:

Road construction still going on. NOTE there is a cat4 hill, people should be aware. At times your doing 20mph and it feels like 10. The sun will BAKE you, and was out today. Tied fastest in 4 years.

Oh and if you read this mr. red 2-striped aero helmet...You dont need to ride the yellow when passsing someone. I was being nice in telling you to stay right (preventing you from a blocking penalty) . You yelled you were passing (NO WAY that was happening in 20 seconds). I passed you much faster than you were "passing." And for the comment that you'd pass me at the finish...nice sportsmanship, I'm sad I didnt get to see you again, even when I dropped my chain and was roadside for a second, or on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not drop my chain. Check fit-hip issues versus road bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Missed my rack by one, was short not long. Socks got stuck, and then heel didn't come up the ankle. (achilles rub rash during the tun). 3rd fastest in 4 years.
What would you do differently?:

Mark T1/2 better
Run
  • 42m 52s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 17s  min/km
Comments:

HOT
Didnt drink but once, and it was up my nose-LOL.
DIDN'T CRAMP!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Push the back half harder, mile 5 was too slow for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Family and friends. Sugar's BBQ. Spinach pizza was good too. Powerade! Bags of ice were a nice touch too.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fear of cramping like all previous years.

Event comments:

2012 I felt like they mailed it in. This year they were back on it! Personally I dont like the baby blue shirts but oh well, theyre still quality. Drop off the night before was nice. Ive also bashed them for not having water available at the expo, having powerade drums and cups this year-awesome! EXPO was great as usual. Medals were pretty sweet this year. Door prizes were a plenty after the race, 0/4 on the QR bike for me. I ALMOST took a podium spot-but third overall was assessed a penalty that bumped him from 3rd back into the AG categories-MINE-and he took first bumping me to 4th-UGH so close!
I didn't cramp.
I did PR this course.
Might be back on the yearly race schedule. (especially if they keep it earlier like this year).
Bravo'

Race report on the Chattanooga Waterfront Tri - Beginners Point of View. This was my first Olympic length triathlon and also the first time I had done a race with cycling shoes instead of cages.
