Congrats on the breakthrough!! I'm hoping to get somewhere in the 2:30 vicinity one of these days.

And this is why I believe I won't be getting there any time soon. That volume represents 1.5-2.5 hours in the pool 3x a week. I just don't have that kind of time (or interest, to be honest).

Just commit an hour, four days per week, and six months from now I bet you will be hitting those yardages in the hour of allotted time.

Of course if you don't want to then you don't want to.

No, not not necessarily. There are plenty of swimmers out there who don't progress, because the flaws in their swimming technique are never addressed. There is inly so much improvement you can make with a bad technique, then you will plateau.

Thanks. My turnover is increasing and I will consider the metronome. I notice that's where the fitness really makes a difference.

I do not have a metronome and I'm also trying to increase my turnover. When I see a decent swimmer at my pool, someone who swims like 18 s per 25 yards I swim next to him/her and I follow her/his rhythm of swimming.

I first decided I was going to "do" a triathlon in 1994. It wasn't until 13 years later, in 2007 that I actually did. Why did it take me 13 years to get to the starting line? The swim!

Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.

Many people in the triathlon world think they need to just emulate Ian Thorpe to have a faster time, or have a similar stroke to Michael Phelps to cruise through the swim. Unfortunately...
