Nice bonfire.

Comments:

My left leg pretty much seized about a mile into the race, so I was reduced to shuffling. The cold wind made me snot a lot; I was constantly blowing my nose. The wind was also blowing debris into my eyes.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe wear sunglasses. It was sunny, but cold and windy. Just not a good run for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Two cups of hot chocolate and a caramel cupcake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think the wind was a big factor. Also, maybe I've been running too much on treadmills lately. My left leg just didn't like the pavement and got really stiff after about a mile. I had a hard time picking it up and ended up shuffling a lot and kicking a lot of gravel. And, weirdly, I think the low number of competitors affected me. There were only about 30 people (maybe!), most of whom were runners, so I ran most of the race by myself. After I got off course and had to backtrack, I ended up being the walkers and even the guy on crutches, and I kind of just said "f*** it!" This race is over. I'll put my energy into next Saturday's race, and just finished it to finish it. Frankly, at that point, if the town had had taxi cabs, I would have called one.

Event comments:

It was a good race. This was only the second time these folks put the race on. They tried really hard and did their best. I really appreciate that and would run it again.

This aggressive couch to 5k program will get you running from nothing and will be the lead-up to any of the sprint programs.
