Anyone heard of this? Or used it? A cycling helmet with an internal HR monitor that will pair via ANT or Bluetooth. It does specifically list Garmin Edge and Forerunner as compatible devices. Been thinking about a new helmet and if I can do away with a chest strap it might be worth the few extra dollars.
Subject:RE: Cycling Helmet with Internal HR Monitor
I suppose it would be a good idea for someone who only wants to track HR while riding, and only uses one helmet for training and racing. 15 hour battery life makes it a bit of a PITA to keep charged though.
I wonder if it would still work if you work a skull cap, cycling cap, etc under your helmet?
I did see some mentions that people popped out the unit and glued them into other (perhaps aero) helmets. This may violate the "no modifying helmets" rule.
As for the 15 hour battery life. I don't see that being too bad. I have a usb dock in the garage for my bike lights already. I'd just plug the helmet in at the same time! Besides, my scosche optical strap only has 8!
