Run
Comments: I knew going into this that I should PR, but you never know what can happen and as mentioned earlier, the 5 days leading up to this weren't very healthy. Anyway, my focus after Ironman Wisconsin had been shorter and fast stuff and I did run a 5K a month ago in 22 minutes which ended up being 3.5 miles and it had some hills so I was thinking this course is flat and fast so I should be closer to 20 minutes. I have run this race a couple times and knew the course is pancake flat, the temps in the morning are perfect and there is rarely any wind, so all that would most likely be favorable. All of those things held true today and I did PR in a remarkable fashion. In addition, I took 3rd in my division with 81 guys in AG45-49. Was 61/1790 overall so it was a pretty big turn-out with a lot of good runners. I was really proud of how I stepped it up because this was not easy and that last mile was very tough. What would you do differently?: Nothing...this was a PR for me and my best 5K. Post race
Warm down: Some stretching & waited for Colleen to finish. Stopped at Starbucks post-race and then went back to my parents for a massive turkey dinner with my brother, his wife and kids. A great thanksgiving. Event comments: Results: http://racewire.com/live_results.php?id=4332&bibnumber=1062 Last updated: 2014-12-22 12:00 AM

On vacation with my wife visiting my parents. Have been training hard for this 5k leading up to this race, but the 5 days before were vacation mode with a lot of golf, drinking and slovenly eating so I really wasn't sure what to expect. I only knew I was going all out.
1.12 miles before race with a bunch of 20" strides at race pace. Also stretching after the warmup.
