Comments:

Took it real easy to start. Relaxed easy swim, never in any distress or tired at all. Not fast but was not pushing real hard.

Comments:

Fast course. Announced as 58 vs 56 miles and that is what my computer showed as well as my Garmin watch. Great ride, actually took it very easy on last 5-10 miles. Could have pushed harder but was afraid I was going too fast and would pay for it on the run. Just kind of kept the pedals moving with the wind on the homestretch.
If bike was only 56 I would have cracked 5 hour mark overall.
Transition 2

Run

Comments:

Started to fall off after mile 9. Kept damage to a minimum but still could have saved 2 mins here.

Event comments:

A fast race course. Overall a good race and I did very well. Race was organized well but there are a couple things that can be improved upon as there are in any race and this team will work to get them fixed. Not sure what to take on my time as it is much faster than I expected but it was a very fast course.

My issue is that I am currently deployed and training outside is proving difficult, especially on the bike. I have found a safe 10km running loop but I am struggling with the bike training.

With stroke improvements I find that when I try and swim long I have lost any speed gains that I had because my stroke count just creeps up and up. I also feel like I'm running out of air.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

This program should be used for an athlete who has been following the progression of the Half Iron Distance program and is 12 weeks out from their first Iron distance race.
