Comments:

Limped the 1st quater mile, got into my groove. Felt good, and separated from a lot of the pack that was at the back. Wanted to run at least a 8 min 30 sec pace. Was at 8:32 average after 2 miles. Thought I would blow through the rest at a faster rate, but felt myself fading during the 1st half of mile 3. Recovered, got my MP3 player on Triump song "Fight the Good Fight" and picked it up for 2nd half of mile 3. Blazed the last 200 yds and was REALLY wiped out at end of the race. My time?? 25:37 - An 8:32 pace! This is the 3rd race where I missed my goal by just a few seconds. Bummer. But it beat my previous 5K PR by 2:30 seconds! Woo-Hoo!!
What would you do differently?:

Try to hold my pace during the last 3rd. That darned U2 song lulled me into a daydream for a few minutes...
Post race
Warm down:

Refreshments, stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

That same bum right leg and the extra 25 lbs of FAT.

Event comments:

My right hip is very sore after the race. I think I am falling apart...

Thanks.  My leg hurt so bad on Sunday, it was ridiculous.  I am going to get a referal to an orthopedic guy today and see if I can find out why my my hip hates me so much.
