Age Group Rank = 2/6
Swim
  • 13m 41s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

started out in front vs more towards the back, my swim confidence is growing!
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

felt like I was fiddling around too much in transition.
Bike
  • 41m 54s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 17.76 mile/hr
Comments:

Struggled clipping in, which was new, once I got passed that things went well
What would you do differently?:

Have drink on board and passed the guy in front of me sooner givin a redo... tailed him for much too long on the course
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

wish I would have remembered my water bottle for drink on the ride, could have saved a few seconds grabbing my drink before heading out
Run
  • 23m 37s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

from my knees down after 1/4 mile cramped, dang near at a walk up a little hill to get through the dirt path, lost my AG during this time frame. Legs did finally relax and let me run after about a 1/4 mile but the damage had been done and there was no catching up to my AG competitor
What would you do differently?:

have at least powerade on the ride to keep my nutrition in check and hopefully forego the cramps in the legs. Maybe time for new race shoes too
Post race
Event comments:

Well supported with many volunteers. Course is challenging both on the bike and run. Full of hills. Makes it fun!

I have a four week gap between the end of my sprint program and the beginning of my Olympic plan. Is it ok to just keep adding the volume needed to begin the Olympic plan?

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

The off season should be just that – a time to rest your body, to rehabilitate injury, and to plan ahead on how to improve performance and prevent injury in the season to come.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
