Pre-race routine:

Drove the course the night before.
Event warmup:

Didn't really know how best to warm up. Mostly walked around the park, should have gotten in the water.

Cold water took me by surprise, knew it would be cold, didn't know what to do about it.
What would you do differently?:

Get in the water and do a warm up swim before race.

Took my time, tried not to waste time, but didn't stress about going as fast as possible. First race, so just wanted to have a good experience.
What would you do differently?:

Have a plan of what to do and in what order, make trans more smooth

Again, not sure what to expect so took it pretty easy. Had a very sore left knee by the end of it, no idea why. But overall a very pleasant bike, easier than expected. Could have gone faster.
What would you do differently?:

Try a little faster pace. Buy a bike computer so I can see how many miles left to go and see what speed I'm going.

Planned to run half the 3 miles, ended up running less than that due to sore knee and fear of overdoing it. During the run decided my strategy would be to run all the downhills (they were not steep ups and downs, just gradual). I think it worked well, but could have run a little more I think.
What would you do differently?:

It's just going to take time to get my running up to par. I knew that was my weak point.

Warm down:

Took pictures, walked around the park, etc. Nothing special.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just in-experience and physical ability. Will keep at it and get better.

It was a great experience. Everyone was helpful and friendly and catered to the beginner.

Course: Felt shaky getting on bike at first, but just took my time and it was fine. Course was reported to be "pancake flat" but definitely had hills. Not bad though, it was very do-able in a road bike. MTB users were struggling in places though.
