Subject: Look Cleats Question
I bought Look pedals for my latest bike. Coming from Shimano's, they're a little tougher to get clipped into and out of, but nothing drastic. I need a pair of cleats for another pair of shoes, now. Who knew they made a few different kinds?

I have the grey cleats with the rubber, currently. I suppose they're fine (ignorance is bliss!), but I was wondering if I might be missing anything.

What's the (dynamic) differences in them?

Thanks.

I use older Look pedals, so my input my be outdated;  The red "ARC" cleats allow for about 10 degree of foot rotation.  It doesn't sound like much, but my old knees can really tell the difference.

Have a look at their website or Google as it explains the difference. Here in UK,assume same as USA there are 3 different colours. I have always had the middle grey but the red allows more degrees of movement as is probably nicer to knees especially as you get older

For most the gray cleat is the best option. Too much float can be bad for the knees (just as too little float may be bad)

How do I know if my cleats need to be adjusted? And how do you know in which direction to adjust them? I have been having medial knee pain and edema but my LBS says the cleat placement is fine.

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

What is your opinion on cleat position? Is there a general rule that you follow when you first fit an athlete?

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
