I am thinking about getting a waterproof MP3 player for swimming. I am following the free BT Ironman plan and it calls for 1500 m sets. I start to go a little crazy when I do these left to my own mind.

Anyone have any experience with the cheap ones on eBay?

IME The cheap ones break quickly and or don't work well. I've used waterproof am/fm players , cases and water proof iPods over the years. Hands down the water proof iPods are the best. The cases are almost as expensive but as soon as the ear buds stop working they're worthless. Water proof iPods you can replace the head phones. The cases I used to get about one year if lucky. I'm on my third year with an audioflood water proof iPod. Just starting to think of replacing headphones. I use it 3 -4 x's a week

I use a Speedo Aquabeat - the buds are replaceable and thats a plus for me. The sound quality depends on how well the ear buds are seated - but it dose provide a distraction on long easy swims

I have the Audioflood, and it has been flawless. Strap it to you goggles, insert the earplug headphones, press play and swim.

Its an iPod, so it pretty easy to use. Nice and small.

It has worked out very well for me, and I can still use it if I want music or an audiobook on the run.

I've had quite a bit of success with underwater audio's gear. The headphones stay in well underneath my swim cap and are comfortable. the waterproof shuffle clips to my goggles and I usually listen to an audiobook while I swim. That and the finis snorkel make swimming much more pleasant.

I have an iPod one.

I hate it for swimming. But it's great for running in the rain.

I just didn't like having music while swimming- my need to boogie to the beat threw off my stroke. I used it twice and went back to singing in my head.

Just to give a different perspective. I actually use it a lot and had no problems with it though.
