Sommer Sports
82F / 28C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 18m 34s
Overall Rank = 198/416
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 28/41
Pre-race routine:

Normal setup and took a tiny bit more extra care setting up my Transition and memorizing my spot/rack.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 09m 49s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt strong for the 1st 100 meters and settled in to a little groove. Shoulders definitely got tired from total lack of training but it was a short enough distance that I was ok just plodding through at the slower pace.
What would you do differently?:

Meh, just the lack of training on the SWIM once again. Nothing to do about that
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Good transition, felt a little sluggish and I didn't really push the issue. Still got out in under 2 mins.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 35m 35s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.55 mile/hr
Comments:

Open country roads. Pretty hilly too in Clermont and it definitely was on this course.
What would you do differently?:

Will be back in 2016 to see if I can add some consistent training to my life and see if I can handle the hills any better.
Transition 2
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

Not sure what took me so long in T2 (?) It didn't feel like 2.5 minutes to me
What would you do differently?:

Go faster
Run
  • 28m 44s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

It took quite a bit longer to shake the brick legs. Almost 2 miles later and by then my hammies were already twingy and about to cramp. I never got to actually push the tempo to race pace.
What would you do differently?:

Just the training
Post race
Warm down:

Kept walking and got my fluids up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just an overall lack of training and fitness. This got me smack into the middle of the race results.

Event comments:

A truly great venue and well organized event. I saw both Michellie Jones being a sighter for a blind athlete as well as Jerrod Shoemaker racing at the event so that was pretty cool too.
