Pre-race routine:

It was an early race. 0600 start time. I got up at 0400, ate some oatmeal, and got to the race venue at about 0500. I then just do what I normally do, walk around get the legs loosened up, and get to the start with plenty of time to spare.

What would you do differently?:

Start off slower! I went out to fast again. Paid for it after mile 18 when there were some hills.
I also think I need so start taking salt tabs. With my diabetes insipidus I am an extremely salty sweater. I think this could help with some cramping issues.

Event comments:

Overall it was a good race. There could be a few changes.

- A separate food tent for half marathon and marathon finishers. The 5kers took almost all of it.
- The right distance!

There were tons of drink stations out on the course, more then I've seen in any race.

Course: The course was pretty decent. I wasn't a huge fan of the zoo. While it was kinda cool there was lots of turning. The bright side of it was I saw the person in front of me get dive bombed by a bird! he was fine, so we both had a good laugh about it. The real problem was with mile 10-11. They had the wrong course. The race wound up being 0.38 miles long, according to the race officials. Not a huge deal, I'm not BQ so I just adjusted my time here accordingly.

I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.
