Pre-race routine:

Cereal/milk w/ banana. Lots of water and 1/2 protein bar in the car on the way. Good streatch.
Event warmup:

More stretching, quick jog around parking lot, arm/shoulder rotations waiting for start.

start w competitive first wave to find someone to draft

Waited for buddy, his first race. lost 1-2 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Suck down a gel running into transition and drink water on the bike. Keep gloves on bike and start riding.

Slow just to finish, started at 9min/mi pace and speed up last mile to end with plenty to spare.
What would you do differently?:

Need to push up hill and learn to come down softer to save knee/ITB. Get pace to 7.5min/mile quickly and push for end.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

... hanging w/ buddy on his first tri. Next time he is on his own! Try to shave 5-7 minutes for next one.

Event comments:

Smaller event just right for beginners. No timing or recorded standings. (Used personal watch w splits for results.) JUST FOR FUN! Good practice to tune for longer events. Will do it again next month. Better than mock at gym as you practice everything in real setting.
