Subject: IM NC 70.3 - wetsuit question
Does anyone know what the water temperature typically is for Ironman North Carolina (formally Beach to Battleship)?

Trying to figure out if the water is too cold for a sleeveless suit.

It's usually pretty cool, maybe in the mid to high 60s. Most of the time, the water is 20+ degrees warmer than the air temp.

I've seen triathletes use full body suits, sleeveless with add-on sleeves, and sleeveless.

I'm going with a sleeveless this year.

Thanks. Is the bike cold enough to wear arm warmers or long sleeve/jacket?
I heard that it was really cold a couple years ago.

You need to prepare for all sorts of temps for this Race. Obviously, you can adjust once we get a forecast race week. But assume the bike will be chilly. I'll wear arm sleeves for the first hour or so on the bike till it warms up. Usually gets comfortably warm by mid morning.

And the water will be refreshingly cool for this time of the year, don't be afraid of full sleeve suits!
