Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 I have done Racine before. I believe it was 2014 when I did it. The race is set in a great location, however...if they haven't fixed the roads on the bike course I would steer clear. The quality of the roads in general are some of the worst I have seen in any triathlon. Usually Wisconsin has great roads, but that county at least at that point was terrible with their roads. The drafting on the bike course will be insane to say the least as well. Although that could be dependent on what age group you are starting in. The swim was great for everyone that year due to excellent conditions on the lake. There wasn't much wind early in the morning so it was one of my favorite experiences swimming in open water of all time. Water will be cold, and usually runs around the upper 50's to lower 60's, so factor in wetsuit and possibly a neoprene cap as well. The run will be hot and hard. There are some good hills especially early on in the half marathon. There is a significant hill within the first mile or so that takes you up onto the road that you will have to climb twice on the two loop course. |
