Subject: Zipp 404 vs Flo 90
Hello ! I want to buy new wheelset and try to choice between Zipp 404 and Flo 90 . I'm beginner in triathlon - my average speed for the 70.3IM with flat surface was 30 km/h . And I think that Zipp too good and expensive for me , but if it makes sense I ready to buy them. Is Flo good wheels ? What do you think ? What better for me ? Cost is important for me . Does Flo have got a tubular wheels ? Thank you .

I would think you'd want to compare the 404s with the Flo 60, more of a direct comparison. They both look like great wheels to me. What are you riding now? Do you want clinchers or tubulars?

Personally I'd want to be either tubular or clincher with all the wheelsets I owned so I could swap out tires/tubes etc. My personal choice would be clinchers as I haven't messed with tubs in about 40 years. I'd compare all the specs of the two wheelsets and take into consideration which tires I wanted to run with them, which brand/model and 23mm or 25mm.

There's quite a bit of prep and logistical differences between a clincher and tubular.  It will matter.

Any advantages tubulars once had over clinchers have more or less been nullified over the last few years with advances in wheels and tires.  I see no point in anyone using tubulars today given how much harder they are to install and how much more logistical concerns there are with flat kits and all that.

Flo does not make tubulars.  Just clinchers.

I've owned a zillion different wheelsets over the years.  I've had Zipp, Hed, Bontrager, Flo, Roval.  You name it.  Zipp vs Flo: aero and speed wise there's almost going to be no difference.  Zipp will be a little lighter, which honestly doesn't matter much, but Zipp wheels are like 3x the cost of Flo wheels for next to zero performance difference.

Thank you very much ! Flo is little-known company in the Russia unfortunately , all my friends say :"Only Zipp !" ))) I think to buy Flo's wheelset . Front - 60 and rear 90 .

Flo is well respected here stateside. I wouldn't worry about their reputation at all. I don't know enough to say which one will be better for you, but I would go with flo's personally because they would be good enough and way cheaper. I've had a pair of flo's and they were great. I've since sold them so I could get some nice disc brake wheels, but they held their resale value really well for me too.

I have Bontrager Race Lite wheels. I was looking into renting Zipp 303's or 404's for race day for Ironman Lake Placid. What time will I save?
