Pre-race routine:

This race was local for me so I woke uparound 5:30, ate a bagel, & V8 took my dog for a walk, then took my son to a sitter's and headed to the race.
Event warmup:

n/a
Swim
  • 19m 38s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

I hung back and waited for everyone to start so I wouldn't be in the middle of everything. This worked well for me, everyone else ended up spreading out and I didn't have any real problems with too many people.
What would you do differently?:

not look around so much, I kept looking for people to make sure I was heading the right way, should have just looked for bouy.
Transition 1
  • 03m 27s
Comments:

I really need to work on this, I took my time and you can tell. This would be the easiest way to shed time off!
What would you do differently?:

Hurry Up!
Bike
  • 59m 45s
  • 15 miles
  • 15.06 mile/hr
Comments:

I really did better than I thought I would. I was very pleased with my time.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed a little harder, I was afraid to go too hard b/c of run, so I held some back maybe too much
Transition 2
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

took too much time again
What would you do differently?:

speed up
Run
  • 40m 41s
  • 4 miles
  • 10m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I did ok, was trying to go faster, but didn't think I could so I kinda slowed down when I figured out I wouldn't reach my goal.
What would you do differently?:

train harder for the run
Post race
Warm down:

n/a ate a hamberger! drank a lot, gatorade/water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training

Event comments:

I really was happy with the race, even though I didn't meet my personal goals, one of which was to complete it under 2 hours. After looking at it and looking at what I can do, this was kinda unrealistic for me. I think I performed as well as I could have, I need to train more to help cut time for next year. Until next year!

Great job on the race! It's nice to have local races to go to, I heard this one is a fun one. Sounds like you have caught the tri bug--it will be nagging you all winter until you can start a new season next year! Hope I can meet you at a race next spring some time, my season's DONE and boy am I making the most of it...(eating, not working out..etc!.)

Good Race! It was good to have some other familiar faces at an out of town(for me) race. Hopefully we'll run into each other again at some future races.
