"Elizabeth Warren Gives Speech On 'Pocahontas' As Slur, Addresses Claims Of Native Ancestry"

Warren claims Trump used there term Pocahontas as a slur. My thinking is, she took it as a slur! If I call someone Rambo, that is not a slur on Rambo. It is a slur on the person trying to act like Rambo.

I think most Americans think of Pocahontas as an iconic representation of a very and proud Indian woman. In my opinion she should have embraced the moniker.

Brings to mine a favorite geek joke:

The old Indian named Pythagoras had 3 squaws and each lived in a different tepee. One tepee was made of hippopotamus hide, one tepee was made of buffalo hide, and one tepee was made of deer hide. All 3 squaws got pregnant at the same time. The squaw that lived in the deer hide tepee had a son. The squaw that lived in the buffalo hide tepee had a son. But the squaw that lived in the hippopotamus hide tepee had twin girls.

So Pythagoras proclaimed, "Ah! The squaws of the hippopotamus is equal to the sons of the squaws of the other two hides."

Make no mistake about it, it was meant as an insult.

Not disputing that at all! But she claims it was a slur of Pocahontas which is a crock. If I say someone is trying to Kennedy and someone says “I knew Kennedy. You are no Kenndy.” I did not slur Kennedy.

It was intended as an insult. Dutifully spun to try and make it a slur. Or did he call her Fauxcahontas and the media ignored that part of the story?

I've got enough Comanche blood, descendant of a Comanche held slave, for my kids to qualify for NA grants and scholarships. Having not celebrated or searched out my NA roots, I don't believe it would be right to get college aid for my kids; it would be taking away from deserving kids raised in the NA culture. Has she connected with and remained in contact with the tribe she used to get her college aid? If not, she's wrong and should repay her 'tribe' with interest.
