Pre-race routine:

Got to the race a lot later than usual because I took my great-nephew for swim lessons first, arriving only a half hour before the race. It was OK, though; I still got a good parking spot and was able to get my bib# quickly and a warm-up done. Thankfully we could pick up our shirts before or after the race so I opted for after.
Event warmup:

2 easy laps around the track, stretching

Finished my warm-up at 1:57 pm and the race was set to start at 2! It ended up starting a bit late, maybe 2:05?

Comments:

My head just wasn't 'in the game', so to speak. I had a busy week, weekend, and morning and I didn't get any good mental prep completed, so while I kept up an OK pace, I certainly could've been a bit faster. But ya know, I'm totally OK with the outcome.

I picked a person to try to stay ahead of and managed to do so, yay! Another yay - I didn't see the 5K leaders before I split off from the out-and-back to do the lollipop part!

Wisely wore less clothing for today's race, just a LS tech shirt, capris, regular socks and baseball hat.
What would you do differently?:

Do better about the mental prep, it makes such a difference. And the next response, like a broken record: lose weight. Run a little harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the parking lot until I caught my breath, then put warm clothes on and went to see LT and her parents, then watched for EFP to finish the 10K. Then, of course, chicken corn soup! The RunPA guy was there so I checked out his products. Sadly he was out of 2 of the things I wanted.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Event comments:

Soup!

A 2 PM race? I'd be totally down with that, get to sleep in!!!!! Heck, I might have even had a beer at lunch beforehand, LOL! Glad to see you're keeping your run game on during the cold season Melanie
