I have been confounded with the MSM criticism of President Trump inviting Putin to the WH. This is what presidents do - establish relations with other countries! It behooves the US to have better relations with the Russians. The idea that the US can manipulate Russia with sanctions and expelling diplomats is ridiculous. Keep you friends close and keep your enemies closer. Take a lesson from The Godfather. "Never let anyone outside the family know what you are thinking."

A few more mafia saying that might apply:

“When you must cut, persuade the victim you are a surgeon.”

“Better your enemies overestimate your stupidity than your shrewdness.”

“When you hunt, let the game come to you.”

I think having Putin visit the WH is brilliant. It's a brilliant political move and brilliant strategic move. The US cannot afford to get into a fight with Russia. There is no downside to meeting with Putin....at least not for the US.
