3D Chess and Pompeo confirmation

March 13(ish) Trump nominate Mike Pompeo for next Secretary of State.

Pompeo met with much criticism in the senate from both sides.

April 1(ish) Trump send Pompeo to meet with Kim Jong Un in North Korea. Pompeo sets the stage for Trump visit and speaks for President Trump. For the Senate not to confirm him would look like the US is divided and Congress doesn't support Trump and would put the NK/US meeting at risk. IOW, why meet with Trump/Pompeo if the Congress doesn't back Trump/Pompeo?

Checkmate! Pompeo confirmed as Secretary of State!


On a side note, one of the handful of democrat Senators who voted to confirm Pompeo is Senator Jones.....Senator from Alabama who beat Roy Moore. Hmmmm. Point of trivia, the other Alabama Senator, Richard Shelby, (R) was elected as a democrat and changed parties while in office. Jones would be wise to do the same or he will be a less-than-one-term Senator.
