Buoyancy Shorts

 15 |  Subject: Buoyancy ShortsSwimming, the demise of many Triathletes, including me. I need all the help I can get with swimming. ROKA has "buoyancy shorts" that mimic wetsuits. Two questions: 1) Can they be used in a pool swim Triathalon legally? 2) If not, am I short-circuiting myself to practice swimming with them when I cannot use them legally? Thank you |

Extreme Veteran 872 Tx | Subject: RE: Buoyancy Shorts TYR has a cheaper pair you can find on Amazon. I don't wear them a lot, but I do like to wear them when I do long swims of 1.5 miles or more. Especially if I'm training for an IM that will be wetsuit legal. They help get my legs up (I have a weak kick). I get some ppl telling me they're a handicap, but I don't care. Really helps relieve the tension on my lower back and I think it helps train my body for the correct position in the water. Like others have mentioned, they wouldn't be legal for a pool swim triathlon. |

Perhaps if you're not that bothered on improving your swimming and will always race in a wetsuit then get some, but personally I wouldn't bother. You'll swim worse when you take them off. |
