Subject: RE: South East sprint suggestions There are zillions of them. What are you looking for? What type of swim (river, lake, ocean, pool)? Do you prefer hilly or flat bike courses? Big race or small? I've raced around the southeast quite a bit. The Setup Event races *tend* to be well run. The Charleston tri series is a nice local series and occasionally some fast racers show up. (And Charleston is a great road trip anyway.) By far my personal favorite (of the races I've done) is the Chattanooga Waterfront race. I've only ever done the Olympic distance race, but I think they have a sprint version as well. The swim is in the river. My only complaint is that they've had glitches with the start times in the past, but hopefully they've got that ironed out. The bike course is wonderful -- rolling hills (which I like). The run is hard -- it involves stairs and is usually hot. It's an out and back so you get to (kinda) see where you are in the race, which is nice. It is generally a big race, and very well run. |
