Pro 6838 Tejas | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising Hmm, figured there might be some activity on this thread after the game yesterday. We walked into a restaurant last night right when Alabama scored the winning TD. Saw the last possession by Georgia and it looked like the refs decided to let them play and ignore the obvious… that oughta draw him out... |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising LOL - that was not 'Bama's best game......there is a chink in the armor and OU and then Clemson are coming. Herringbone nation is sweating. Still......I'll be cheering for the SEC....again. Edited by Left Brain 2018-12-02 8:06 PM |

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising Yeah, the Hawaiian Wonder had a bad day. GA defense stood tall. AL receivers dropped 3 or 4 easy catches. That was the trifecta that allowed GA to almost pull it off. I was proud for Jalen to redeem himself....having not gotten to finish the championship last year. Bonehead play by Kirby not-so-Smart with the fake punt on 4th and 11. I would have like to see GA make the playoffs but I'm SEC biased. I predict AL and ND in the final game with AL winning with a perfect season. :-) But for now it's "Ooooooooaklahoma where the Tide comes sweeping over the plains...." Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising Originally posted by mdg2003 Originally posted by Left Brain DOH!! Tide Ouch. It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad night....and very painful to watch. Clemson did everything right and Bama did everything wrong. Clemson defense just shut Alabama down. Clemson stopped Bama 3 times on downs inside the 20. Clemson's defense totally confused the Tide by switching from man on man to zone and vice versa during the play. I was still hopeful at the half but it was more of the same....only worse. Oh well, I guess losing is good for one's humility. I will go on record now and predict AL and Clemson will meet again in 2020 either in the semi-finals or finals. The Hawaiian Wonder QB for Bama will be back and that long-haired hippy true-Freshman QB for Clemson will be back. Oh yeah, a couple of bone-head calls by Saban didn't help matters. I don't think they changed the ultimate outcome but certainly effected the score. People always talk about why Alabama can't seem to recruit a good kicker. WSJ had a article that said they do recruit good kickers but the walk-on kickers are better. The 'problem' is Saban insists the holder be a QB. Other teams have a dedicated holder that practices with the kicker so they have thousands of kicks to perfect the hold/kick. Obviously the QB does not spend much of his him practicing with the kicker. Oh well, really can't say too much bad about a 14 and 1 record. Roll Tide Edited by Rogillio 2019-01-08 9:00 AM |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising I don't remember the last time a team was able to put their scrubs in for the last 3 minutes of a game against 'Bama......that was a thorough arse kicking. I had only followed Clemson as a team, not individual players, and I was stunned by the Freshman kid.

Champion 10157 Alabama | Subject: RE: Red Tide Rising There are 65 Nivision 1 NCAA Football Teams in the 5 power conferences. (ACC, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, Pac 12) Final AP poll for the season: 4 of top 10 are SEC Teams! Alabama (2), LSU (6), Georgia (7), Florida (8) SEC has twice as many in the top 10 as the second best Conference (Big 12) with 2 teams and 4x as many as the other 3 power conferences (ACC, Big 10 and Pac 12) that each have 1 team. Indepentant ND was also in top 10. Good job SEC!! Note: This analysis brought to you by a humbled Bama fan trying to put a positive spin on the shellacking Bama took last night. |

I didn't really have a dog in the hunt as a Husker fan, but I'm not going to lie I did enjoy watching Bama go down like that. Kind of like when the bully gets knocked on his rear end every once and a while. Saw this morning the Vegas odds on who makes the playoffs next year and Clemson and Alabama were the top two with everyone else way far behind. Waaay too early to speculate but in times past, when Bama takes a beating, they come back with a vengeance. I agree Tua's inexperience showed but I have to give credit to Clemson's defense. They gave defended in such a way that Tua was unable to adapt to. A credit to Clemson's defensive coaching. So Jalen has announce his availability to transfer and play his senior year somewhere else. Good for him. He deserves to be a starting QB somewhere. It would be interesting to see Tua and Jalen go head to head. Tua's little brother will be joining the Tide next year but I suspect he will be red-shirted his freshman year. My guess is Alabama and Saban will watch every play in that game over and over and over to pinpoint what went wrong and come up with corrective action. IOW, this will make Alabama a better team by teaching them better how to adapt when they are faced with different defenses. Alabama got out-played and out-coached and Clemson was clearly the better team. But this is what makes sports enjoyable! Oh well, I guess second place is not all bad. |
