We woke up at 5 to thunder and lightning, but got up and got ready anyway. We headed down to transition and sat in the rain from about 5:30-7:15 when the rain started to let up. They finally anounced about 7:15 that they were going to have the race, but the oly would be reduced to the swim and bike of the sprint followed by the 10k as planned and still the sprint distances remained the same. This sealed the deal for Kylie, she was out. Being a strong swimmer and a weaker runner, that didn't sound like a real fun race to her. I decided that I was not real excited to ride 18 miles on wet roads with 1100 other people so we turned in our chips, grabbed the bikes and headed back to the hotel. The other thing that worried me was that I HAD to be back in Houston by 4 or so and with them pushing back the race start, I questioned whether we would make it.
Well I am not going to be bummed about it. We had a great time cruising up to Dallas, had a good dinner, the weather just didn't cooperate. There were plenty of folks who stuck it out and raced anyway, we just made the choice not too. No big deal. We have Stonebridge in 2 weeks and that is going to be a blast so that is what I am focusing on.
