Learned a new Italian phrase today

I am watching the caravan story and just can't get my head around it. Who initiated it? Why now? Who told these people that if they walked to America they would be allowed to come in?

I read a fact check this morning on Trump's tweet that there were some criminals among them. The Fact Check it was FALSE and said there is "no evidence there are criminals among them". I just shake my head. Yeah 14,000 people but not single bad apple. The thing is, until they are screened no one can tell if there are 100 criminals or 1000 criminals among them but to deny there are some is weapons' grade stupid.

I also don't get the timing. It is estimated it will take 70 day for them to reach the border. That is assuming they walk. Imagine the logistics of supporting 14,000 people walking thru the desert. How many calories a day does one burn walking 25 miles? I'd say 2x as much as one burns at their resting metabolic rate. How much water does one need to stay hydrated in the desert walking 25 miles a day?

As triathletes, former triathletes, marathoners we know the support it takes to help people make it thru a race. I know they are not 'in a hurry' but it doesn't matter. To get from point A to point B requires energy. Who is feeding 14,000 people?

Strangely enough, I have to admire these people. They want a better life for themselves and for their families and are willing to walk 1,200 miles across the desert in hope of a better life. What heartbreak when you get here and are turned away? Bless their hearts....which is southern for 'what an idiot'.
