Weapons grade stupid! "Hurley pointed out that while officers are denied guns, they are all outfitted with a Kevlar vest. In other words, while officers cannot shoot at would-be school attackers they are dressed in a fashion that anticipates an attack." |

Yeah.....well.....England has 2.7 million guns in civilian hands, and we have 385,000,000+ so.... I don't make the rules.....but I don't play games with bad guys with guns and my child's (or yours) safety either. If our guys can't have guns in schools to help protect against a school shooting (that's THE sole reason for being there) then they won't be there. Because..... that would just be stupid.

Yes, but between you and I alone we probably have over 50. :-) |

Hey guns kill people! Well, none of mine have but I can’t say the same about yours. Serious question, have you ever fired your gun on duty? |

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: If you are looking for a school to shoot up...... No, but I've ran to get away from someone raining shots at us a few times. On the flip side.....17 Officers I have worked next to, at some point in my 31 year career, have been murdered or committed suicide. It's not pretty work. Don't get me wrong.....I'd kill you in a minute if you were trying to seriously hurt me or anyone in my family.....but I hope that day never comes and always worked hard to not get to that point. I've been in some situations where the law would have allowed me to shoot someone....but I didn't, for one reason or another. Mostly because I REALLY don't want to and will go right up to the edge in order not to. But on the other side of that edge is not a good time for the bad guy. I've spent my life shooting and training others to shoot.....and I can. Edited by Left Brain 2019-02-11 3:14 PM |

My step-father was a gun collector. When he died he had 2 AK47s in his collection. My mom called the Denver PD to ask if they could suggest what to do with the AK47s. Mom gave the rest of the collection to my step sister and brother, but she didn't want the AK47s to fall into the wrong hands when they sold everything. DPD came and got the AK47s. Oddly enough one of the officers who came is the husband of my brother-in-law's step daughter. He asked about ammo, but my mom had already sold that to a gun store. She made enough money off the ammo to make a few house payments. My step-dad was somewhat of a hoarder with his guns and ammo. Left Brain, a good friend of mine was killed after serving a protective order in Shalimar, FL. While you and I may not have the same political views, I respect your profession greatly. |

But really......the number of guns is no matter.....it's all about the bullets. I appreciate that......and I'm sorry you lost a friend, truly.....it's a hard thing. The deal is, we could have some beers and laughs together, I'm sure of it. I don't really care about someone's political views on a personal level. I get that we all don't have the same experiences....it's what makes us great. I like people....always have..... and all my years seeing some of them do horrendous things to each other hasn't changed that. I'm positive, as people trying to do the right thing for our families and each other, we have much more in common than our differing political views. I've not lost a friendship over politics, and I have no intention of doing so. I think we should all strive for that.....and it's hard right now for sure....but that's where the "common" will ultimately come from, yeah? I'm sure I come off much more "right" then I would in person.......I just can't help making fun of it all.....because these people who "represent" us really don't.... from my experience. For what's it's worth......this one had me using my fingers and toes to figure out.... Oddly enough one of the officers who came is the husband of my brother-in-law's step daughter.
