Subject: Voting age to 16?
Dems are in need of votes and are floating the idea of lowering the voting age to 16.

First off, I don't think there are many 16 yo kids who give rip about politics or voting. They are much more interested in who to vote for Homecoming queen than what congressional candidate to vote for. But maybe the thinking is, liberal parents would be more likely than conservative parents to drag their kids to the polls and tell them how to vote. Or maybe the thinking is simply that kids are naturally naïve and think socialist idea sound good to them. Sure, why shouldn't everyone have free health care and free college and guaranteed income.

Playing devil's advocate.....I started working when I was 15. I worked 30 to 40 hrs a week all through HS. I paid SS, Federal and State income taxes. Yet I was lot allowed to vote. Isn't this taxation without representation? Didn't we already fight this war? ;-)

I think what this comes down to is where do we draw the line? If 16 is ok, how about 15? 13? The age of 18 is an age of transition. We graduate HS, go off to college, join the military, move out of the house and get a job, are able to get a credit card, rent a car, etc. I see no compelling reason to change the voting age.

"Thousands of children will skip school to protest inaction on global warming"
"It’s not surprising given that adults have been telling them for months that humanity only has 12 years to avoid catastrophic warming."
“We need to listen to the wisdom of our kids!”

SMH Wisdom and kids should never be used in the same sentence. Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge. Kids lack any knowledge on global warming. They are simply regurgitating what global alarmists told them.

These kids are being used as pawn and that is a shame. Of course, when I was in HS, I'd skip school to protest plate tectonics if someone told me we were all gonna die anyway.

I have 5 kids......if you ask them to repeat ONE thing they've hear me say over the year it will be, without hesitation, "I'll let you know when I care what you think."  That goes for all  kids.  Even the ones who's parents think they are brilliant and special.

They have opinions and lord knows they will speak their minds.............now go to bed.

Reminds me, my husband was reading to me from a Bill being proposed that would force public schools to allow students to miss school to vote. Maybe it's all in the same proposal.  I looked at him in confusion, I'm a teacher and I don't get to miss school to vote. Why the heck should students be allowed to get out of class to go vote but the adults don't? Then he explained this Bill is being proposed by a Democrat.
