Subject: Newbie who's smashing fears
I've always hated running with a passion, struggled to keep up consistent and disciplined exercise and my 2 biggest fears have always been deep dark water and the cold.. But I'm sick of being limited by the stories I hold about myself and after smashing my fear of the cold (thanks to Wim Hof) I've been determined to keep going to see what else I can transform. And I don't do things in halves so.. I thought I'd just go after doing a half ironman at the end of November.

I'm not totally unfit and I would consider myself at almost optimal health, so with 35 weeks to go and a steady plan I think it's doable.. Right? Please tell me if you think I'd be pushing it!

Welcome!

HIM and especially IM are about training.

Most plans are 20 weeks and a HIM plan probably assumes you can:
Swim 2000 yard (45 minute) workouts
Bike 20-25 (1:15-1:30 hours) workouts
Run 5-6 (45-60 minutes) workouts.

From there, you'll build to 8-10 hour training weeks that will usually include a long ride of 2.5-3 hours and a long run of 1.5-2 hours.

Train smart, and you won't have a problem.
