Pre-race routine:

Nothing special.
Event warmup:

5 minute run followed by 5-10 minutes of stretching at the line.
Run
  • 18m 23s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 05m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Sorta wimped out between mile 1.5 and 2.5. Got a side stitch around mile 2 that, coupled with my lack of focus, slowed me down for awhile. Ended up getting passed in the last half mile partly because of this and partly because I thought there was more race left. Frustrating because I could have beat the guy if I'd paid more attention to the course maps beforehand.
What would you do differently?:

Not wimp out, not get passed :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around and stretch a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental toughness and also partly a side stitch.

Event comments:

Very well organized and put together race. Got free entrance to the zoo with race entry as well as lots of food and refreshments after.
