Subject: Completed my first sprint-What's next?
Hi there! I finished my first sprint following the basic training plan on this website. I had fun and finished in 1:22:14.

I'm thinking of going for an Olympic distance but don't have a full 16 weeks to follow the next training plan. I wonder if I need the full 16. Should I fast forward a few weeks or start at the beginning and get as far as I can?

Split times were:

7:49 swim
2:38 T1
38:42 bike
2:06 T2
31:01 Run

Thanks for the advice!

Congrats!

BT has a race report feature.  You might use it and add a few more details.

You're half-way to an OLY now.  Look at the plan and see which week of the 16 corresponds to your recent training and pick up from there.  This would mean you pick a race based on finishing training, rather than finishing training after picking a race.

This is a good advice.

WHat are the distances for the sprint that you completed? Sometimes Sprint races have different distances, especially for swim and bike.

When is the Oly race, and what are the longest you have recently completed for swim, bike, and run?

Like others have mentioned, if you got to the sprint using the plan, you should be in a better spot that starting day one with the Oly plan.

when using a prebuilt plan make sure your race day matches in real life. So, if you only have 12 weeks, don't start at week 1. You will be getting to the peak volume and probably carrying a little extra fatigue when you hit the race. Either look for a 12 week plan or start at week 4, but look at the volume and make sure you aren't jumping into more than you have been training for up to this point. i.e. If you were only running 10 miles per week don't jump right into a point that has you doing 20 miles.

It would be helpful to know when is your Oly race and what are your longest swim, bike, run so far.
