Welp,

After getting to the first YMCA which was almost 20 minutes from my hotel, only to find that the pool was closed, I googled to find another one which had an open pool. 1600m swim was glorious. The drive back from Richmond, VA was easy.

In about an hour I am going to pick up my Mini Cooper which has been out of commission since I died in January. It's sweet, lowered a bit, new suspension and stoppers on all four corners and a few other fixes here and there!

Following I go to a dinner celebrating my 25th anniversary with my company. I have been with the same company since I was 16 years old, started full time straight out of high school and made the climb up the ladder...Good Times!

Nice work on getting the swim in Steve.

I did a 45 minute Trainer Ride this morning.  2 x 8 minutes at 105% FTP.  I need to get the bike to go out on the Road on Friday no make sure everything is running smoothly for the race on Saturday.

The Spring Triathlon has a four-loop bike course.  I was wondering how that would be on the bike course when you have the fast guys having to dodge and pass the slower people for most of the bike course.  I am used to riding with people my speed for most of the course.  I figured the bike course could get pretty congested.  The race director had the same concern and broke it into two race groups.  The group 1 sprint race will start at 6:45 AM and the group 2 sprint race at 8:15.  I guess the idea is that everyone from group 1 will be off the four-loop bike course by the time group two hits it.  Everyone with over a 2:30 min/100 pace is group 1 and those under 2:30 min/100 are group 2.  I don't know how I feel about two races since the position of the sun will make a difference from 6:45 to 8:15 but these Sprint Triathlons are basically just a Time trial.  There isn't any head to head racing since they start swimmer 10 seconds apart.  I would much rather have an OWS with a mass start.  That way you know where you are at and who you have to catch to move up.  So, I guess I will just be chasing the clock trying to go under 1:05.

Take care.

25 years is a long stay with on company. I will have been with my company for 10 years coming up in October. Hard to think about 15 more!

Decent trainer session tonight. 55 minutes of intervals ranging from 75-95% FTP with 2 minutes rest in between. Followed that up with a 10 minute climb at an average of 5% gradient. Threw down some good wattage on the climb, even after the intervals. Good confidence booster.

Good evening all!
