I have a "shorty" left over from water sking about 15 years ago. I wore it recently for an OWS workout on a cold morning. I felt fine and it worked well - I couldn't have fit into it last year. Anyway, my question is: Is there any reason I shouldn't or couldn't wear it for a Tri? I am planning to do the Redman 70.3 in Oklahoma City one year from today, which will be my first OWS in a race.
As long as you like it and are not fighting to work harder, there is no reason you cannot use it. i have a friend, quite TALL, who I believe uses a water skiing wet suit and does alright. i do not know what difference it makes for timing, but if you are not trying to win, just do well and finish, that should be perfect. It is all about what works for you, no 2 athletes are the same, we all have our differences.
