Subject: Privilege
My “privilege” was having two parents.

Although my parents divorced when I was 8 years old, both parents worked to keep my on the straight and narrow. We were far from rich and my grades did not qualify me for a college scholarship. At 17 I joined the Army National Guard for college tuition help in exchange for 6 years of service. I worked 1 to 2 jobs all during college to pay for my room and board and eventually graduated “Lordy How Cum?”.

While my parents were never really involved in my school work and provided no financial support in my college years, they had both instilled (beat into me) a sense of right and wrong when I was young. To this day I can still hear Dad’s voice in my head, “You don’t cheat, steal or lie!”

I suppose some would attribute my successes in life to my whiteness but I think my “privilege” was having two parents who were both there to raise me.

I don’t care what Hillary said it doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.
