Swim
Comments: I actually felt really strong on this, and my swim time was only slightly slower than last year, but I guess the timing mat was further away because the actual time was 6:30 vs. 5:31 last year. I should have put a faster swim time on my signup because I had to pass quite a few people, but overall I felt strong and smooth and did not have issues breathing. I was high-fiving the kids on my lap changes, and they were pretty into that. What would you do differently?: Lose weight and put down faster swim time during registration to get out front. Transition 1
Comments: Had to run pretty far from pool to transition. Did not tighten down shoes for race but tightened them up as I went. 10/15 for AG, 55/115 Overall T1 different this year than last year (I think). If not, I was 40 seconds faster. What would you do differently?: Probably nothing. Not comfortable yet with jumping on the bike or having shoes already clipped in. Bike
Comments: https://www.strava.com/activities/11661384113 Ride I felt went pretty well. Passed quite a few on first lap and got passed by no one. Still didn't go that quickly but pleased with the time overall based on my level of training. Gun time was 25:49, almost 2 minutes slower than last year. What would you do differently?: Lose weight, ride more. Maybe mount tri-bars after getting them fixed. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty fast T2 to run. Only 3/10 of a second slower than last year! 3/15 AG and 41/115 Overall What would you do differently?: Nothing really besides maybe being unclipped coming in and jumping off moving bike. Third fastest in agree group is pretty solid. Run
Comments: https://www.strava.com/activities/11661453930 Gun time also 18:44 Felt solid on run. Had to slow down on second lap to get water, but overall felt strong considering. 54 seconds slow compared to last year. What would you do differently?: Lose weight is it. Just carrying so much weight. Post race
Warm down: No warm down, straight into second triathlon What limited your ability to perform faster: weight, heat. Event comments: This year's version of this race was much bigger than 2023 but was still well-organized and pretty fast. There was a big party going on in a parking lot out the bike exit, but it gradually migrated over to where the run course was. The competition was pretty solid in general but did have a local feel. I will do it again since I really love the nigh race idea. Last updated: 2024-06-17 12:00 AM

Had the whole family with me for this one. We went to Furman to ride/look around, but it was so damn hot, we only bike for about 20 minutes before loading up again. Drove around Travelers Rest for awhile and looked at the little condos for rent on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. I was really excited for a family day, but as usual the kids were nuts, so ended up kind of regretting bringing them with me. Went to Publix for pub subs and water (very dehydrated). Got a Red Bull and drank it about 15 minutes before race time. Got to race site about 5pm and needed almost the whole hour to get ready. Tri suit is feeling pretty tight these days!
Just biked about 1 mile around the course. Too hot to really do anything else. I also swam a few small laps and felt decent. Didn't think I really needed to warmup any more than I did.
