Sunny
Total Time = 1h 48m 53s
Overall Rank = 235/267
Age Group = 30-35 Men
Age Group Rank = 38/41
Pre-race routine:

Got there nice and early and relaxed. I was nervous as I didn't think I had adequetely prepared.
Event warmup:

Did a 5 minute jog
Swim
  • 18m 44s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim started out at a wall at the edge of the lake. I felt fairly confident in my swim. When we left I started out way too fast. By time I reached the first buoy I had to turn over and rest for a minute. After I rested and caught my breath I continued on. The rest of the swim was very uneventful and slow. I had to turn over one more time alone the "backstretch".
What would you do differently?:

Start out a little slower and better preparation. I thought I was prepared but then when I got out there found out the hard way that I wasn't even close.
Transition 1
  • 03m 4s
Comments:

I deliberately took it slow to catch my breath in this transition. I could've gone faster but my strategy by this point had changed to just finishing.
What would you do differently?:

Prepare for the swim better so I could take less time in this transition. Also, maybe dry off a little better, had some trouble with my jersey (or is that my weight???)
Bike
  • 47m 35s
  • 15 miles
  • 18.91 mile/hr
Comments:

I think the aero bars really helped. I did better speed wise than I thought, though, even though it was still slow compared to the other participants. I was very well prepared for the bike though, I had done a lot of biking during this time. For me, I was pleased.
What would you do differently?:

Work on hills just a bit more. I struggled a little on the steep ones.
Transition 2
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

This was the first time I had used a bar to mount my bike and I mounted it handle bars first. The gap between my front tire and brakes was a little too small to mount that way, so I struggled a little to get it on. Other than that this was fairly smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Mount my bike by the seat instead. I think it will be a touch faster if I can get away with it.
Run
  • 37m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

This was by far my worst event of the three. I felt like I walked more than ran. I was just not ready at all. I had some nagging injuries leading up to the event that only affected the run so I was well under trained. The hills killed me going down as well as up. I could not get into a good groove. Not much else to say about that. A run I would love to forget.
What would you do differently?:

Train on hills. Also, change shoes to help prevent some of the nagging injuries that kept me from training as much as I would like.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for a few minutes and then sat down with a gaterade and relaxed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. Most definitely. Had I known how unprepared I was I might not even have attempted this one.

Event comments:

Good race overall. I will attempt it again, as it is my hometown tri. Definately difficult though. I will train especially hard for this one next year.

It looks like you learned a lot in this race- and writing up a RR is a great way to reinfoprce what you have learned and also to be able to keep a r3ecord so when you blow it out of the water (ha ha) next year, you'll have proof!
