Run
Comments: When the run started, my toes were numb from standing around! We got to the corral around 7 am so I was not out there long. Miles 1-9 were great. Had a gel about an hour in and legs felt awesome. Mile 9-10 was the longest mile of the race. After the long uphill of the tunnel, my legs were starting to tire. I kept pushing and after mile 10, the miles got a lot easier. The aid stations and spectators were great. I loved the music along the course and running through parts of Detroit you don't get to see very often. What would you do differently?: Run harder at the end. My training partner sprinted and beat me by a minute. I was too tired at the point. Post race
Warm down: Stretched on the astro-turf at Ford Field and got a massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was sick for two weeks in October and this was my first long run in almost 3 weeks. I definitely felt it in my legs near the end. Last updated: 2006-08-29 12:00 AM

Stretching and bouncing around to stay warm!
