Event warmup:

Light stretching
Swim
  • 10m 39s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was great. Tiny waves on entry. Major logjam going arounf 1st bouy. I think I may have swam into someone and when I next looked, their goggles were all crooked...

I actually caught 2 waves coming in - YES!
What would you do differently?:

Try to swim straighter, less sighting, more consistent stroke/breathing.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

The transition from the beach to T1 included running up an access road from the beach (arounf 50 steep yards), through a parking lot, then into T1 area. I was ready to barf by the time I got to my rack. One heel got a littel stuck in my suit. Rinsed the sand off my feet, skipped the socks, got my helmet on, and I was ready for action! I swam with my shirt on under my wetsuit for the 1st time. It helped in T1.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe practice having shoes already on bike.
Bike
  • 33m 47s
  • 9 miles
  • 15.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode for about a mile before I caught my breath after the swim.
There was a lot of bike traffic at times. Not everyone was good about staying to the right except to pass. I got stuck behind some people a couple of times. Fortunately one time was going up the only hill on the 1st loop. Deinetly was easier being part of the "pelaton" then going single up the hill on the second loop.
What would you do differently?:

Ride harder at beginning while catching my breath.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Good transition. Sent my galssed flying when took off my helmet, but not a problem.
What would you do differently?:

Put my zip ties back on my running shoes.
Run
  • 32m 16s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

I was pretty tired at the start. I felt like I was running incredably slow. Probably because I was. The 1st lap was definately harder than the second. I felt like my breathing was more comfortable the second lap. I picked up the pace. Never really got my overall run going at a good rate and was a little diasappointed about that. The leg/hip held in there but never really felt too great.

What would you do differently?:

Train more leading up to the race...
Post race
Warm down:

light stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

limited training, leg issues

Event comments:

I had a great time. Well run race. Lots of great compitiion.
