Pre-race routine:

Ate a bowl of oatmeal and a banana. Drove down to Turner Field. Got there waaay too early and read a book in the car.
Event warmup:

Walked around a bit.

Comments:

I started right at the back but caught up to Mindy (autigers 1998) and her friend Carol after about 1/2 mile. Got passed by a platoon of Marines who called cadence the whole way. Ran with Mindy and Carol for about 1 1/2 miles. I saw Jeff (jg2ga) at the first water stop but he was pretty busy. There was one extremely steep (but thankfully short) hill that I walked up around mile 3.5. I picked it up after the first two miles and ran the last four under 10:00 pace.
What would you do differently?:

Wear a short-sleeved shirt like I originally planned. When I got there it was pretty cold so I put on a long-sleeve shirt. I regretted that decision almost as soon as I began to run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit up the course to cheer for Mindy and Carol.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training.

Event comments:

I was very happy with the race. I had not trained as much as I would have liked but was able to beat my previous 10K time by over 2 minutes.
