hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to tris as I have done several 26.2 marathons. I have some back issues that prevent me from doing another marathon. So tri's seem to be the next step. I am open to any suggestions. Looking forward to the journey.
Dawn

Wow this is so much fun. Yep I would like to do an Olympic distance. Being a long distance runner, a 5k just keeps me grummpy. I warm up at about 4 miles. I will have to see how my back holds up. I did 10 miles yesterday and I am hurting today. I am thinking about the Austin tri in May or Boerne Texas later in the summer - July.

Hey Dawn - good to have you on. I did some serious running lots of years ago. Did half marathons and twice had back issues while training for a marathon. Doc friend told me to qui9t running so never made the marathon and have just gotten back into running (slow and sure) having dropped some weight. So far so good. Wouldn't you say that paying attention to pain and careful progress is a key? We will look for your good running advice and maybe celebrate a first tri in 2004

Yep, for sure slow progress is vital. In fact on my morning run this morning, I was experenicing some pain in my back. I had planned on making this a speed work. While I was disappointed, I had to remind myself that smart running is better than no running. Having had the experiencing of not being able to run and the experience of knowing the joy of running, I must pay attention to what is happening and make this a joint effort between mind and body. Having great doctors is also criticle. Check out an active release practitioner to work out scar tissue that can impede progress. My ART doc has been the shinning beacon in my effort to do some races at all. Hope all this helps.
Love being here
