Hey Team PoF, how did this first week go for you

For the good of the group, please post your swim totals for the week (1st-3rd) even if it is zero.

Oh, and if you are so inclined, maybe also a bit about how your training week went.

2 Workouts totalling 5,000 Yards for me.

My training is going pretty well. Have 2 more weeks of training left before I start tapering for my next Marathon. I am sure that Tapering through the holidays is going to get very interesting.

For those who are not familiar; most Marathon training plans include a 2-3 week taper (Mine is 3 weeks) and it is usually marked by more than a bit of madness

I suspect it is a combination of the lower mileage and the sudden increase in excess fuel triggers lots of wackiness marked by obsessively checking the weather, running paces through the calculators and acute performance anxiety

My hope is that swimming during this time will burn off some of that excess fuel and keep things somewhat sane.

Go Team RoF

I think you are right about about swimming helping with your marathon taper.

My swimming week 1 total is Zero . I ran Friday and was driving and Theme parking it in Carlsbad on saturday.
and had an all day class on Sunday.
But week 2 is off to a good start:
Splashed Through 1500 m in the pool this morning. 15 % of the goal .

Hey, hope you had a good time at Legoland

I do my long runs down the hill and right past the park and the flower fields.

It's a nice park , my kids liked the short lines , Outside the park I saw a lot of runners Saturday and a water stop right by the top of the ridge off cannon road.

My total for the 3 days is zero.  But I'm only planning on 1-2 short swims each week so no worries.  I've had a little pain flair-up during the last week as well so I didn't want to add anything new until it's calmed down.  I've been pain-free yesterday and today.

I'm planning to get a swim in tonight for the first time since Sept. 19th!  I'm excited.

No worries, we are all just getting started here. The first week was only 3 days and many folks in the challenge on all teams posted Zeroes for the first week.

It will really start to get interesting toward the latter half of the month

Welcome to Team RoF

I'm 10% done!  We went to the gym last night and I got in 1000 yards.  Modest, but it was good.

I found my ear plugs!  That means I got to work on my bilateral breathing.  Wow.  It's been almost a year since I breathed on the left side, it seems.  Apparently I've forgotten how.

First lap: breathe on right -- fine, smooth-ish, ok
Second lap: breathe on left - run into the lane line, run into the other lane line, nearly scrap my toes on the bottom of the pool...

Hrmmm... might need some work.

So I spent the next 950 yards just swimming 25-50 breathing every 3rd pull and trying to get my head where it needs to be and figure out what's up with my right arm when I breathe on the left (why does it go DOWN?).

So, it turned into a slow, form-focused workout.

But I did it.  And we have another workout planned this week, and then a coached workout for next Sunday evening.
