Subject: Now I'm confused! Heart rate percentage question.
Tonight I read to determine your heart rate percentage, (MHR-RHR) * P + RHR. "P=Percentage"
I always thought it was MHR * P. This is how my HRM finds my percentage. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is my HRM wrong? Thanks

Wow.  I'm sorta confused looking at that.

Your percentages should be based on your lactacte threshold and not your maximum heartrate.  Resting heartrate really doesn't come into play.

that formular describes the 'Karvonen' method of determining training heart rate. Max - Resting is called the "Heart Rate Reserve" - it is based on the observation that your resting heart rate is not something that contributes to training and should not figure into a percentage.

a bit better than simple MHR percentage, but not by much.

There are several different ways of setting training zones based on heart rate. Training zones based off of LTHR (as determined by a 30min TT) seem to be the preferred method for those using this site.
