Subject: Feedback on my training schedule?
So, I have three more races for this year: another sprint, a 5k trail run, and a 10k trail run (which will be my first 10k - the Autumn Woods Classic - how could I resist???). I looked at a couple of different sprint tri and 10k training programs and merged them, changing as needed. I may end up switching things around a bit to make room for more camping, but my basic plan is posted below.

One strange thing - the 10k training I am referencing recommends doing a 5k about 3 weeks before the 10k. I didn't know that at the time I signed up for the 5k I'm doing...3 weeks before the 10k! (insert Twilight Zone theme song here - Do, DO Do do, Do, DO Do do)

Okay, I have a few questions:

1. Does this look like enough? Too much? I want to finish the 10k comfortably, but since I'm not really a runner, some of the training for a 10k is Greek to me.

2. If I want to do more tris next year (maybe another sprint, an off-road spring, an an olympic distance?), do I need to add in more swimming and biking before my upcoming 10k? Would I be dumb for only riding or swimming once a week until after the 10k?

I have two other questions related to tempo runs and strength training, but they should probably be their own threads (plus I can see if anyone else has asked the same thing in the past, before I post them).

Okay, here it is...

from a cursory glance...it seems cool...u give yourself at least a rest day a week and u have short and long runs.  u can always cut back if u r getting tired or fatigued.

I agree with Ron,
How long is the bike in the sprint tri?
IMHO, I would add a long bike or a long bike/ short run brick on one day during the weekend. Switch your swim with the bike on Fri.

the ride is only 10 miles. my first sprint tri was S: 1/3m (lake), B: 10.3m (easy), R: 2.5m. this one is S: 1/3m (river), B: 10m (potentially hilly - planning a practice ride for saturday morning), R: 4 miles (again, maybe hilly). i might do a brick at the race site sunday morning if i don't get out there on saturday.

i can easily modify to do longer rides because my favorite routes usually take longer than what the training recommends. plus, once i get the kids in the burley and asleep, i'll go as far as i can! i'm planning to do at least 60 minutes this afternoon, but it will probably be more like 90+ mins.
