Subject: Greeting from Big Island Hello All,
I have just begun my training program to get back in shape. At this point I am 34, 6'3" and 230 lb. I have been putting on about 5 lb a year and have had enough. I used to be very fit from an active lifestyle that included volleyball, soccer, football, surfing, mountain biking, golf, hiking and whatever else I could. Work, women and laziness have gotten in the way of my health and I am trying to change that. I recently have been having many back problems and random muscle pulls from doing nothing. My father died young from heart problems and the path I was on surely would have put me on the same path.
I have chosen to train to be a triathlete because I need variety and exercise without a goal doesn't work for me. I have started a very light workout to get the muscles used to moving again. Early results are painful but promising. If I manage to stick with it I will make an effort to complete the Honolulu Sprint Triathlon come May.
I look forward to learning as much as possible from the forum.
