Subject: New to tri Hello - I'm glad that I found this site. I'm new to triathlons - and endurance sports in general. When I was younger, I played provincial level basketball back in Canada, and I was serious about rugby, swimming and volleyball as well. I know what it's like to train, however, I'm used to team motivation.
I've since moved to Montana for grad school, and I'm tired of not getting consistent exercise. I've had large weight gains in the past (several years ago, I was up to 225 at 6' tall ). Now, thanks to tango and other dancing, I've lost a lot of that weight - I was 170 this spring when I was dancing a lot. Now, I'm finding that dancing opportunites don't come around enough, and I'm struggling to keep my weight around 180. I'm getting into tri for several reasons: to be in an individual sport where I don't need to rely on other's schedules; to feel in top shape again; and, hey - I need a new hobby.
Anyhow, I hope that this year goes well - I plan to do a 5k around Thanksgiving, a sprint in spring, and get up to an Oly by this time next year.
Later,
