Total Time = 1h 01m 24s
Overall Rank = 28/85
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/17
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:15 put my gear together, had some breakfest (cereal, energy bar), and off to the race location.
Event warmup:

I got there way too early. I was sitting around waiting for the start for quite some time. I did jog a little for warm up.
Swim
  • 07m 50s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

The result sheet said I swam it in 6:50, which I don't think is right. It was probably more like 7:50. I stopped my watch a little late and it read 8:18. I'll take it. I felt pretty good during the swim. I went out a little fast and had to slow down to catch my breath.
The result times were a little screwed up. So all of my times will probably change.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do some type of warm up routine. I swim better if I have had my heart rate up a little.
Transition 1
  • 03m 8s
Comments:

My T1 was long as usual. I swam with a top on, but then decided to put a long sleeve running shirt over that, because I didn't want to be cold on the bike. I took some time, but was worth it in the end.
What would you do differently?:

Just need to work on the speed of this transition and be more prepared.
Bike
  • 34m 32s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.85 mile/hr
Comments:

Well this is usually my best event, but not today. I should have been holding around 22 mph avg. It basically comes down to not riding enough. I just haven't had the opportunity to ride that much lately. But the good news is that it won't take much for me to get back to that level. Its just kind of a bummer that I wasn't on top of it today. Especially since I missed getting an award by 22 seconds!
What would you do differently?:

Just need to get back to the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

I did good on this transition.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe switch my speed laces to my new shoes.
Run
  • 14m 57s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Well I have been doing more running. So this was a good time for me at sub 7:30 min. miles. My legs did feel a little funky coming off the bike and I think that was due to the lack if riding in general.
What would you do differently?:

Well I should have pushed myself the last mile. I could have save that 22 seconds.
Post race
Warm down:

Had some fruit, water and bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Probably just not training enough lately in general.

Great job! I did this race also and my swim time on the official results was about 20 seconds faster than I thought, but I'll take it! I heard a few people comment that their swim times were faster, must be a fast pool, LOL!
You had a great race!
