I received a link to a great pace calculator for running (thanks, rjl171!). You simply input a recent race result and it will calculate times for a wide variety of distances. It goes from 100m – 26.2miles. It calculates what your 5k, 10k etc race times should be so it’s a super helpful tool for training. Please see link: http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/rununiv/mcmillanrunningcalculator.htm

Does anyone know of a similar pace calculator for swimming and/or biking?

In peace,
CQ

The formula behind all of those numbers you see is based on a ton of research done by Dr. Jack Daniels into the Physiology of running. (See his book, Daniels Running Formula)

Sadly, none of this research has yet been done on the sport of Swimming or Cycling, nor has it really been proven that such a concept would even be applicable.

The good news is that you can leverage his research somewhat for other endurance based activities like Cycling and Swimming.

Do the Lactate Threshold Test (Using a 30 Minute TT) to figure out your HR Value associated with your Lactate Threshold. You can then, over a period of time, figure out what your current paces are for each of the zones. (And figure out what your progression is at each of the key biking distances)

Clearly it will not be as easy as it is for running:

Marathon Pace ~ LT Pace + 20 Seconds
Half Marathon Pace ~ LT Pace
