I'm thinking about it. What race are you doing? I only know of the 5k in Smithtown.

This one is in Smithtown...I think there is also another one in Huntington.  I'm doing the Smithtown one, will be my first event ever...possible DFL in my future!!

I'm officially in for the Smithtown race. I'll be the guy at the start line with the orange sneakers, who goes out way too fast the first mile, hahaha. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you fellow islanders. See you on St. Patty's Day!!!

I'll be the Clyde at the BoP hoping you rabbits save me some snacks at the end.   So far forescast calls for Sunny and 46..doesn't seem bad.

Let me know if any of you want to get together race morning for a warmup, or post race where we can talk about training and such. It would be nice to actually meet some fellow BT'ers.

Giddy Up!!! I usually show up to 5k's about an hour before the gun to pick up my packet and get situated, so I'll be there plenty early. As far as figuring out who's who...I'll most likely be warming up in a pair of sweatpants that say "FREDONIA" down the leg (my alma mater), and of course the orange racing flats.

Fredonia???   Oswego grad here...do those state schools still know how to party? I'm easy to pick out, I'm almost assuredly going to be the only person there with facial burns...hey don't feel bad it happened when I was young and it has many advantages...such as getting picked out in a crowd

For those concerned about race conditions on Saturday.  I spoke with Lynne Barnhardt, contact person, and she said to call 631-265-5030 on race morning to see if the race is still scheduled.  Rain or some flurries the race will be run, dangerous conditions, icy roads, snow covered roads, race will probably be canceled and RESCHEDULED for the following Saturday Mar 24, but call the # above to make sure.  I did not ask what would happen if you could not make it Saturday Mar 24.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering about that myself...stupid winter weather making a comeback. In other news, if any of you racing on Saturday are looking for a pair of swim fins I have a pair of Zipp Fins, sized 6-9 that I'm looking to get rid of. They're too small for me, I've only used them twice and they are in perfect condition. If anyone wants them let me know and I'll bring them Saturday. I'm not looking to make any money off them, I just don't want them to go to waste but if you feel compelled to trade for something else, cash or gear, by all means go ahead. They retail for about $30. I hope to see you all Saturday with good race conditions!!

Thanks for the heads-up!  Much appreciated.  I hope the weather clears and it's a good day.  If they end up re-scheduling for next Saturday, are you going to run Sat and Sun at the Selden race, 1st Timer?

Have to right? I mean it's paid for..although I may have to run easier in one versus the other..hopefully it's miserable enough to keep everyone away on Saturday yet they still race and I pick up some hardware!! hehe..

Weather Update!!

According to weatherchannel.com it looks like it's supposed to change to all rain around 3a-4a...HEAVY rain at that..but then taper to showers around 8a-9a and a balmy 34 degrees.  If anyone else calls that # please post information here...I hope they answer at 6am tomorrow.

This rescheduling is brutal for me.  I was supposed to paint my house this weekend and next.

Ahhh..screw it...the house will always be there!! I'm not sure of race strategy....i'm too new to run both hard...do I take it easy on Saturday and run hard Sunday? But what if I am a little sore on Sunday from Saturday? Should I just run as hard as I can on Saturday and use Sunday as recovery run....or run at all?  I'm confused, but I don't want to run both slow..I want to try and bust one of them...Anybody have any ideas/input?

we're hosting Passover & Easter this year, so I need the place to be finished.  Plus, I've got a week before the guys come in to rip up the carpets and do the hardwood floors.

As for next weekend.  I'm going to run my regular race on Saturday and let Sunday fall where it may.  I don't know if that's the 'proper' way to do it, but that's my game plan (as of now).

I would wait and see what the weather for next weekend is going to be. You never know what mother nature might throw at us again.
