Subject: First race questions
So I am training for my first sprint and am thinking either the Seahorse or Big Fish will be a good place to start based on the date/location of these events.

Question 1: Do these events tend to sell out? I have tried to check out the online registration a couple of times, but I just get a "try back later" error.

Question 2: How cold is the water in mid June in lower MI? I have read that generally it is faster to go without a wetsuit in a sprint, but it seems to me like that would be pretty chilly in June.

I did Seahorse last year and will probably do it again this year. I dont think it sold out. I am wetsuit less so i did the race without one. It was a little chilly but not horrible. I breast stroked the whole race so that should tell you i spent quite a bit of time in the h2o. I believe on 3D's website they have a wetsuit rental place listed. That's what most people did for this race if you dont have one.

yz,
I'm in the same boat....training for my first sprint. I am doing the Big Fish as my first. If you choose, let me know and we'll hook up.

This is Michigan so the weather is a crapshoot. I would guess water temps in 65-70F degrees and highs from 70-80F, but morning race temps cooler, more like 60-70F?

BTW, I had no trouble going online to register.
